Working with one trusted journalist can bring light to a complex or controversial story or reach the perfect audience to help generate impact.

This interactive session will discuss what we mean by pitching, how to prepare, managing rejection, unintended outcomes or no response, and how to manage expectations internally. The session will share experience and examples of what has gone well in the past.

Our expert pitchers sharing their know-how will be:

Ruth Francis has nearly 20 years experience working in science, medical, health, education and publishing, including promoting research and in strategic communications roles. She has been freelancing since the beginning of 2018.

Shane Canning is PR & Media Manager at The University of Edinburgh with almost 10 years experience working in a variety of top-ranking press offices for scientific journals, research councils, and health institutes.
