Science and health journalists meet STEM press officers

15 August 2017
  • Start: 18:15
  • End: 22:00
  • Location: The Water Poet

Here is a chance for Stemprans to network with ABSW and MJA members.

We’re holding this one on Tuesday 15 August at 6.30pm in the beer garden of the Water Poet in Spitalfields. Let’s hope for a warm, summer evening!

We will start with welcomes from:

  • Claire Hastings, Stempra Chair
  • Jack Serle, ABSW Vice-Chair
  • Lawrence McGinty, MJA Chair
  • Drinks and sharing platters will be provided to help get the conversations flowing.

    More details:

Press officers have great stories to give and journalists need great stories to write. This is a chance to get together over some drinks and nibbles to see how we can better collaborate. Good science reporting requires knowledge and experience that you might be willing to share. Or you might be interested to meet tech-savvy innovators who are pushing new platforms or ways of communicating. Or you might be a newly-started science press officer needing to develop your confidence or to get inspiration – and get to know journalists.

An informal drinks event can be a great way to share advice and ideas. You can ask the questions you really want to ask, meet others working in the same field, say what’s been bothering you, find new sources for research findings or learn about potential new outlets for your stories.
