Claire is currently the Media Officer at The Institute of Cancer Research, London. She moved into science communication following a PhD and short postdoc in malaria research at the Medical Research Council (MRC)’s National Institute for Medical Research in Mill Hill, and has since interned at the Society of Biology, Sense about Science and the Science Media Centre, as well as being employed as Press Officer at the MRC and Institute of Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience at King’s College London.
Claire’s breadth of experience expands charities, membership organisations, academic institutes and funding bodies, giving her an in-depth insight into the varied media strategies employed by different institutions.
In her various roles, Claire has worked on numerous stories that have received national and international TV, radio, online and print coverage in prominent media outlets. She is self-confessed media junkie, loves blog writing, and coaches/choreographs/runs two competitive, national champion-winning dance teams in her spare time.
