Is the press release officially dead?

Are targeted pitches, packages and direct to public campaigns the way forward? Has social media and blogging finally trumped the time-honoured mass mail-out of a news release? Or are press releases still alive and kicking in the press office toolkit? Date: 20th November Time: 6:30pm arrival, talks 7-8:30pm, pub until late Venue: The Royal Society, 6-9 Carlton House Terrace, London, SW1Y5AG

Speakers include

Colin Smith, Senior Media Research Officer, Imperial College London, Steve Palmer, Head of Press and Science Communication, Cancer Research UK, and Emma Griffiths, Head of Communications at Government Office for Science. Most importantly, we want to hear from you. Are press releases still intrinsic to your PR activities, or are you finding new ways of getting your stories into the media? Please RSVP to events@stempra.org.uk As always, this event is open to all and is free to Stempra members. Non-members who would like to attend can join on the night.
